François Labet, President of the Bourgogne Wine Board (BIVB), opened the Bourgogne wines press conference with a presentation of the 2019 vintage. The result of some unusual conditions – or is the unusual becoming the norm? – it is “worthy of its predecessors from years ending in a nine, with a lovely freshness and good body”.
Total volume, estimated at 1.2 million hectoliters, should not upset the market, since the 2017 and 2018 vintages have already allowed stocks to be replenished. The Chablis wines will even manage to put its full annual quota on the market, thanks to the Volume Compensatoire Individuel (VCI) scheme.
