Economic assessment for Bourgogne Wines (eight months 2019) by Gilles de Larouzière

550

Gilles de Larouzière, Board Member of the Union des Maisons de Vin de Grande Bourgogne (UMVGB) gave an overview of the healthy level of transactions for the 2018-2019 campaign, driven by the excellent 2018 vintage.
In terms of exports, figures for the first eight months of 2019 are very encouraging, but the sector has great concerns over the 25% tax imposed by the USA and the fall-out from a possible no-deal Brexit.
Bourgogne wines are faring well on the French marketplace, maintaining growth on domestic circuits where other French wine regions are struggling.

Note: when Gilles de Larouzière announces that the revenues of Bourgogne wines went over 1 billion for the 1st time on the 12 month period (October 2018 to September 2019), he means “Export Revenues”.
